- Play the Head from Bessie's Blues one time (12 measures)- Page 42 of Real Book 6th Edition
- Play the etude listed below as "Bessie's Blues Etude" (24 measures) ***Note that the etude is written for Alto Sax. Most Jazz Band pieces do not have a flute part written therefore flutes double the Alto Sax part. The etude for flute will need to be transposed up a minor third (3 half steps) from the Alto Sax part.***
- Improvise for two choruses (24 measures)
